Subject Description

This subject concentrates on the basic principles and concepts of 3D modelling, texturing, lighting and animation common to all 3D authoring software. It is a broad look at 3D and a primer for further specialised fields in the industry.

The aim of this subject is to provide the student with a strong foundation of relevant tools and techniques within the 3D environment.

Specifically, a reference image will be provided to create a 3D model, UV unwrap, texture map, apply lighting and output 10 seconds of animation. The final submission will showcase movement using the model and the camera.

Learning outcomes

  1. Navigate and use professional 3D packages.

  2. Use core modelling techniques.
