Subject Description

This subject will give students an appreciation of what it is like to be part of a commercially based organisation and recognise that management is a generic process that underpins all human activity.

 

Learning Outcomes or Competencies

  1. Apply basic business principles in a design context.

  2. Include commercial imperatives in their design practices.

  3. Discuss and reflect on aspects of leadership and entrepreneurship in the design field.

  4. Research and identify general and specific legal, regulatory and ethical issues in a small business.

  5. Successfully pitch a business idea and effectively communicate design business principles.

  6. Effectively use vision and mission statements in a design business

  7. Identify and define appropriate human resource management procedures and practices in a small design business

Policy


Attendance: When a student's attendance falls below 80% without adequate explanation, their final mark will be automatically limited to, at best, a Pass.


Late submission: All work submitted after the submission deadline will be limited to a maximum of 50% and will not be accepted after the end of the study period unless special circumstances apply.


Plagiarism and Cheating: Any form of cheating, collusion, or plagiarism will be handled in accordance with the Academic Misconduct and Plagiarism Policy found under the Academic Policies on Raffles Policies and Procedure page.
