Subject Description

The aim of this subject is to prepare students for industry placement and gain an understanding of the components of the employment process.

 

Content

In this subject students will create a portfolio that is aiming at a specific range of companies within the creative industry. In this process students will review and critically assess the body of work they have acquired so far. Students will have the opportunity to revisit and refine their work with the aim to improve and reposition themselves to suit their personal career preferences and marketability.


Students must establish their creative direction through strong communication devices (application collateral, portfolio, promotional piece).


Students must create a portfolio underpinning their creative strengths and personal career goals. The final body of work must be of professional standard with consideration of the layout, typography and photography as an engaging visual experience.

 

Learning outcomes

1. Understand, research and document the role of visual systems for communicating large amounts of data

2. Interpret and communicate complex or large amounts of data visually

3. Take a sophisticated system based approach to producing visual continuity when producing a series of design outcomes

4. Implement appropriate and functional graphic solutions across multiple levels of interaction, through a variety of print and digital media

5. Work collaboratively to realise design outcomes that extend beyond print based solutions
