Subject Description

In this subject the students will learn to research and recognise, design, pattern make, cut and assemble a basic man’s tailored jacket.


Learning outcomes or Competencies

On successful completion of this unit, learners will be able to:

  1. Design and assemble a tailored men’s jacket.

  2. Understand the use of fabric application in tailored garments.

  3. Research and understand the significance of tailoring in the fashion industry, including women’s wear.

  4. Develop suitable blocks from pattern library for appropriate tailoring design outcomes.

  5. Understand the technical difference between tailoring and mainstream garment construction.

  6. Select appropriate haberdashery for final presentation of a tailored garment.
