Subject Description

The aim of this subject is to advance the student’s compositional and layout skills in relation to print based outcomes.

 

Content

In this subject students will apply composition and layout skills to a range of print media formats.

Projects will require students to expand their problem solving skills, concept development and visual communication skills in order to resolve 2D graphic designs. Students will research and develop techniques required to develop a coherent print-based campaign and apply these to various pieces print media. Students will also research historical design movements, innovative print campaigns and designers and relate this research to the set projects.

 

Learning outcomes

  1. Range and depth of experimentation and creativity within set guidelines.

  2. Generate resolved graphic design solutions from brief to the final printed document and
    deliver material that meets print requirements.

  3. Selection of appropriate paper stock for a professionally finished document in accordance ?
    with a given brief.

  4. Apply a concept across a range of print media and understand the importance of continuity.
