Subject Description

The aim of this subject is to introduce students to key approaches in designing and creating visual identities.

 

 

Content

In this subject students will use illustration and typography skills to create logos, pictograms, icons, symbols and logotypes. By developing visual identities that accurately convey and shape a company's image, services and ideals, students will gain a deeper understanding and greater control of visual communication systems and techniques.

 

Learning outcomes

1. Understand and research the role of visual branding in establishing a visual identity

2. Document their learning process in a visual journal

3. Create and apply visual identities across a range of media

4. Use image and type to communicate complex messages and ideas efficiently and clearly

5. Resolve graphic design problems using critical and conceptual processes
