Subject Description

The aim of this subject is to introduce students to the design process including, research and analytical thinking in creative design, principles of 3 dimensional designs, drawing, architectural drafting and problem solving.

 

Content

  • Introduction to 2D and 3D principles of interior design.

  • Research and analyses primary architectural elements: linear, planar, forms, shapes openings, enclosures and circulation patterns.

  • Recognize and creatively use primary architectural elements in interior spatial composition.

  • Part of this studio work will be related to 2D architectural rendering and drawing where students will gain knowledge of the principles of perspective drawing, architectural drawing such as plan drawings, cross sections drawing and free hand drawing.

 

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, learners will be able to:

1. Research, analyses and interpret examples of architectural structures and interiors, visually and   

            through writing

2. Creatively use primary architectural and interior space elements in creating 3D compositions

3. Record and present design and concept development process in drawings and model making

4.         Develop the drawing and drafting skills to sketch and draw plans, sections, elevations and perspective

           drawings of interior spaces
