Subject Description

Retouching & Print Media provides a strong foundation for the processing, production and management of files to produce quality photographic images as required for the final presentation of briefs initiated in other photography subjects.

At this stage the focus is on the eventual presentation of high quality digital images suitable for exhibition, professional portfolios and for reproduction in various print media. Students are introduced to commercial retouching techniques. In addition, students learn how to create digital portfolios and professional printed portfolios.

The subject allows students to explore and develop individual processing styles, while continuing to develop their photographic technique. Students are encouraged to find innovative and imaginative solutions for showcasing their photographic work in both a professional and engaging manner.

To enhance the student’s appreciation and better their understanding of industry requirements and expectations in regards to file management, prepress for various print media, photographic printing processes and various presentation methods, students are required to undertake research of current photographic industry trends and an analysis of major contributors to the profession and investigate their methods and strategies.
