Subject Description

Photographic Practice 2 prepares students for the professional practice of photo shoots both on studio and on location.

In the studio, students will learn to light for beauty and fashion, as well as creating still life images with both a classical and contemporary influence. On location, students will be required to balance available light with flash and will develop technical skills in the area of architectural photography and dealing with perspective and distortion. They will be further challenged by having to source appropriate locations, coordinate a production team, as well as carry out their concepts in an effective and persuasive manner.

Students are encouraged to be inventive and imaginative, whilst developing strong concepts, with an emphasis on commercial viability, in order to meet the requirements of demanding photographic briefs. These briefs are aimed at developing visual communication skills and further refining photographic technique.
