Subject Description

The aim of this subject is to familiarise the student with an actor’s skill set and how these skills apply to directing, acting and the performance.


Students will apply fundamental acting theory through weekly practical exercises designed to build knowledge and confidence in the communication between actor, director and audience.


Students from all disciplines are welcome! Any student interested in directing, acting, performance or just building confidence will find this subject refreshing, interesting and fun.

 

Learning outcomes or Competencies

  1. Undertake appropriate research and preparation for character, scene and stage development.

  2. Direct Actors through all stages of a performance; script, casting, rehersals, performance and performance variations.

  3. Apply acting methods to articulate a character’s motives and the psychology behind them.

  4. Follow direction and perform confidently.
