Subject Description

Story and drama are two important aspects of both linear and interactive moving imagery. This subject will teach students about these through a combination of exposure to each area’s key works, the study of classic drama/story methods and practical exercise. The students will also develop an idea from a one liner to a draft script.

 

Learning outcomes or Competencies

On completion of the course students should be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes-


  1. Describe the fundamental attributes of storytelling and the effect of differences between forms.

  2. Use knowledge of dramatic structure and archetype to create compelling stories.

  3. Use genre specific formatting for script and storyboard layouts. Develop and refine a one liner, one page synopsis/treatment and draft script.

      4.  Ability to develop and communicate a story idea verbally whilst recognising industry needs
