Jewellery Design
Bachelor of Design majoring in Jewellery Design

This course is not available at the Sydney campus. See the Associate Colleges section for information about where this course is available.

Jewellery designers sketch, model and prepare prototype designs of all types of body adornment: rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and decorative objects. They have specialised understanding of the materials associated with the production of these items: metals, precious stones, as well as non traditional materials such as plastic. The designer is involved in the whole process: from concept through to manufacturing and marketing.

This course will allow students to explore a variety of areas within traditional and contemporary Jewellery Design – where emphasis is placed on creativity, innovation, experimentation and the material application of technical skills. The course aims to integrate students into professional practice of the design and manufacture of jewellery and its associated products.

The following areas are covered:

  • Gem Analysis & Stone Setting
  • Contemporary Jewellery Design
  • Jewellery Technology
  • Jewellery Theory Studies
  • Design Methods

Design Management - Elise Watson's great affinity with art drew her to studying at Raffles College."What I like about studying here is the quality of teaching and level of support. I really appreciate the small class sizes and personal recognition within class. We're all like minded students and mix together well. It's also given me universal scope so I'm looking forward to having a portable degree and working overseas after graduating."
