INTERVIEWEE: Chelsea Williamson
We’ve spoken to Fashion Marketing student, Chelsea, to see her top 5 essential Instagram tips! As a current up and coming fashion and travel blogger, who better to guide us to improve all our Insta feeds!
Why is having a good Instagram feed important to you?
I think having a good Instagram feed is important because I use Instagram as a creative outlet.
I feel very lucky to be pursuing a business in the blogging field of fashion and travel through this platform. It's really important as a platform to share your creativity and ideas with your followers.
Having a good feed makes you stand out from the rest.
What are some Instagram feed trends you've tried (or some that you've come across that you found interesting), why/why not do you think they have worked?
I've tried a few trends to find what my personal voice is:
- Brown tones
- Pinky tones
- Contrast tones
I even held a poll on Instagram to see what my followers wanted to see. People's personal style come through based on trends. They allow everyone to show who you are as a person on Instagram and stand out as an individual.
What made you choose your current Instagram feed theme?
My feed is inspired by what i do and where I'm travelling. I’ve recently come back from Bali, and it's evident throughout my feed with green tones.
I like to reflect the culture and beauty of a destination and not be set in my ways. I like to be versatile with my feed but still remain consistent with how I filter my photos.
What are your top 5 tips for anyone wanting to improve theirs?
plan what you’re going to do, what you’re trying to achieve and the overall message you’re trying to put out with your photo.
Use an app
it's an easy way to see what works and what doesn’t and change things accordingly.
Invest in a good camera and lighting equipment
it’s important to give your audience good quality content, I find that it responds better on Instagram.
Always stay true to who you are
there’s a reason why people follow you and it’s because they like what you’re doing if you don’t believe in promoting something don’t promote it.
